For Lent this year, I decided to give up my comfort zone. And until the aneurysm, that meant going to see an unfamiliar band with a man who was very different from my usual date. But then aneurysm not only took me out of my comfort zone, but across the world from it.
I love this article from Indie Chicks: Seven Things That Happen Outside of YOur Comfort Zone. I can relate to all of these, especially #1, “You Realize You’re Never Really Ready.” Especially at the beginning, I kept thinking how much easier everything would have been if only:
- I was caught up and even ahead at work;
- Everything at home was organized so I could tell Sister exactly where everything was that I needed her to bring me;
- My bills were on auto-pay, and/or I had some sort of legal arrangement that gave Sister power of attorney;
- I had more $ in savings.
I could add more and more to this list, but unfortunately, aneursyms don’t let you know when they’re going to happen. Suffice it to say that there is merit in having your shit together before something like that happens. I’m a believer!
