August 2016 Non-Scale Victories

august-011

  • A new option for my vocal cords: Botox! And it doesn’t require an overnight stay.
  • Bu-bye wheelchair!
  • Committed to adding a NSVs in real-time vs. having four days to fill at the end of the month.
  • Skipped cardio to work on getting un-overwhelmed.
  • New $500 conference sponsor!
  • Enjoyed a spontaneous couple hours of fun at Soda City with Sister.
  • Enjoyed conference dinner with Wrenn and co-workers, and afterwards when the group moved to the bar, with little fanfare, headed up to the room to unpack and get to bed early-ish.
  • Really wanted to take Sister up on her offer to drive me to the conference, but really felt like I needed to do this one on my own. Having Beth here would’ve been fun and so much more comfortable, but I need to get out of my comfort zone.
  • Found a $61.00 refund check in the car detailing. Deposited it, and put it on that one credit card I’m trying so hard to pay off.
  • Made by step goal two days in a row at the conference.
  • Attended the JNF Support Group even though I felt totally overwhelmed.
  • I can grunt like a pig/play snore again, which has got to indicate positive healing with my vocal cords and airway.
  • Decided to spend one-on-one time with the Dickinson family instead of going to the Chihuly exhibit, which will be there until the end of October. Chihuly would’ve been a physical challenge PLUS time with friends is irreplaceable.
  • I reframed my weight gain and/or toning loss as follows over the weekend: if I’d been given a choice between dying and living with a few more lbs and less toned muscles, I would’ve chosen the latter. So I need to be thankful and quit beating myself up over “feeling fat.”
  • Ate only fruit for my snacks today.
  • Resisted chocolate at staff meeting.
  • Returned to gym after two week medical/travel break.
  • Called out to my trainer who was about 40 feet away from me, over the noise of the sound system, and he heard me.
  • Something rubbed me the wrong way at work today, and instead of making something out of it at the time, I paused and reflected. (This is the best part of “Mary Pat 2.0.”) Ninety minutes after leaving work, the perfect opportunity for me to address it came to me in the form of an email. Thus I didn’t look like an overly sensitive, overthinking ninny.
  • Bought a lot of fruit and good stuff for the “Boot Camp” week ahead.
  • “Stirred” the compost, which I’ve been scared to do b/c there may be a snake in it. (I haven’t seen one, but have worried about it since starting to compost.)
  • 16 minutes on the treadmill at 2.2. mph and .5 incline with no stridor.
  • My boss called out a question from his office, and when I answered back, he heard me!
  • Rode to Charleston and back for vocal Botox, but still ate well and got a few extra steps in.
  • New MASH010 high score on Lumosity.
  • Overslept and still made it to work by 8:20 a.m.
  • Cooked this weekend. Have been slow to do this since coming home.
  • Planned some new goals.
  • This.
  • Felt very much like my “new old self” today.
  • Tried a black bean burger at the baseball game.
