If you’re tempted to try McDonald’s new oatmeal, please read this article first.
New York Times food columnist Mark Bittman points out the following:
- McDonald’s oatmeal contains more sugar thn a Snickers bar and only 10 fewer calories than an Egg McMuffin.
- A more accurate description than “100% natural whole-grain oats,” “plump raisins,” “sweet cranberries” and “crisp fresh apples” would be “oats, sugar, sweetened dried fruit, cream and 11 weird ingredients you would never keep in your kitchen.”
At-home oatmeal is easy – I make it nearly every day! Just place 1/2 cup of Quaker Oats in a bowl, add 1/2 cup milk or soy milk and microwave for three minutes. I add 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries to add flavor and help cool it down.
